It’s been a wonderful journey so far and really enjoyed the company of my friends and the support of other women in my crossdressing journey. One day when I was there in Tirupathi I had a very strange thought of arranging a lady's function with other ladies.In Telugu(one of the 18 official languages of India) this lady's function is called “Perantam”. This Perantam is basically inviting all the married women and spinsters to attend Pooja to the Mother Goddess and followed by a parting gift from the host to all the guests of the event. This parting gift includes a blouse piece, beetle leaves, two bananas, beetle nuts, flowers, and half a dozen bangles.

I asked my friend Tulasi Akka about the idea of conducting a Perantam at her home and requested her to make the arrangements. I have given her the amount for the parting gifts for the ladies who are coming for the Perantam. This discussion had happened in the Gangamma temple and I left for the hotel room after planning for the Perantam in the evening of the day.I called Tulasi Akka from the hotel room and asked her whether she can help me with the draping of the saree. I know saree draping back then but not a pro like my other sisters of my community.

Tulasi Akka with a welcoming voice accepted my request and asked me to come over to her place with a saree of my choice. I took a power nap in the afternoon in the hotel room. I woke up and after freshen up, I did my makeup and packed a pink saree(multicolour synthetic one) in my backpack and left my hair loose and went out take an auto to Tulasi Akka’s home where she is waiting for me. I took an auto to Tulasi Akka home and the auto driver welcomed me with a smile. I do have the habit of negotiation but I didn’t have it with him as my thoughts are already occupied with the event and the fun I am going to have in the company of other women.

I reached Tulasi Akka’s home and asked the auto driver about the fare. He said it’s ok “not required”. In Tirupathi during the Gangamma Festival time the locals treat the crossdressers like me with the utmost respect and our touch will give fortunes to them. I have given 50 rupees to him and left for Tulasi Akka’s house. She is waiting for me and offered me a cup of tea and that tea made me feel more energetic. I said to myself “Yes, I am ready for action”.

Tulasi Akka suggested me to change into a blouse into a petticoat and left me in a room by closing the doors from outside and stood at the door so that no one will enter while I was changing. I changed myself into a navy blue blouse and light color petticoat and knocked on the door to open. Then Tulasi Akka started draping the saree so elegantly that the saree pleats were so perfectly done and finally saree achieved its objective of giving me wonderful feminine curves. Tulasi Akka has given me the matching bangles half dozen each on my two hands and those glass bangles made a tinkling sound that was so rhythmic to my ears. Tulasi Akka started braiding my loose hair into a beautiful single long braid and made the braid look more beautiful by the jasmine flowers so beautifully arranged in my hair. She applied some vermilion (Kum-Kum) on the forehead with this I completed my perfect look ready for Perantam.

Guests started coming one after another and for me, it’s a new thing as it is purely an all lady's function. The women who have come for the Perantam applied the turmeric paste to my feet and in reciprocation, I did the same to each one of them. Everyone applied Kum-Kum on my forehead and I did the same to them.

Some ladies complimented my beauty and I have given complete credit to Tulasi Akka who stood next to me on the whole even holding my plate full of parting gifts to the guests. Some women sang some songs of mother goddess Gangamma and the others prayed for everyone's good health, wealth and prosperity. Girl kids who accompanied their mothers were so shy and stood behind their mothers and have shown their palms only to take the fruits offered by me.

Some teenage girls have shown some interest to take pictures with me and elders were also slowly started asking ta have group photos with them. It was really fun and the evening we all really had a wonderful time together with the blessings of the Mother Goddess. I was really lucky that I got the same opportunity next year as well. I am really thankful to Tulasi Akka from the bottom of my heart.
